Whether you are furnishing a new home, adding a few new pieces, or working with what you already have, arranging your furniture in an aesthetically pleasing and functional layout is important for the overall look and feel of your space.

STEP 1: take inventory of what you have, and what you will be using.

Think about how you are going to be using this room.  How will traffic flow?  Do you require plenty of seating? Is this a formal area, or a casual and relaxed room?  Do you have children, do you need to avoid sharp edges and wobbly furniture feet?
